I was born and raised in the rainy emerald city of Seattle, with the lush primal rainforests of the Olympic National Park close at hand. It was within these trees that my younger self dreamt of Jurassic monsters stalking through the ancient ferns. Teeth and claws, stretched skin and lashing tails – imagery like this gave me an unbridled sense of wonder and inspiration for a natural power greater than the human world. It wasn’t until later in my life, after leaving an interesting career in lab science, that I turned my passion towards visual art. I needed to share and express my deep admiration for all things Rawr! I recently moved to LA and have been enjoying the sun and the creative friends here. (Shoutout to Monster Squad!) If you are like me and love all things creature/monster, reach out on social media and let’s talk about our favorite chompy stompy critters!

Brendan Nguyen

Hi! I am a LA based concept artist passionate about everything creatures and monsters. Growing up obsessed with dinosaurs and playing pokemon later pivoted my journey towards creatures. Through the years watching a film/ cinema, I always loved how a movie or story is able to have such an impact on a person. Whether it be to evoke an emotion or inspire an idea. Wanting to bring my own ideas to life and channel that same feeling was my main drive towards design. Monster Squad is a collective where monster/ creature lovers are able to share and inspire different ideas related to anything... to kaijus, to horror movies, design etc...

Lawrence Wu

Hey there! My name is Lawrence and I am an LA based artist and creature designer. I love everything creepy and crawly, from insects and aliens in nature to obscure internet horrors. I was that bug kid you’d see during recess hunched over an anthill next to that one tree. I love to watch how they move and behave, how their design influences the way they act and vice versa.
I hope to one day share this feeling of wonder and fascination by bringing weird creatures and monsters to the big screen.
When I’m not conjuring eldritch beings I enjoy going to aquariums, rock climbing, and video games :)
